Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PitProfile Visualizer may collect, use, store, and share information when you use the app.
1. Information you enter
The app may process project, team, transect, shovel test pit, horizon, Munsell, soil texture, depth, artifact, note, export, and related field-observation data that you enter or import.
2. Local browser storage
PitProfile Visualizer may store working data, preferences, team settings, deleted-transect markers, and other app state in your browser local storage. This data is stored on the device and browser you use unless you export it, sync it, or clear it.
3. Optional team sync
If you use team sync, team name, team code, member name, transect data, conflict-resolution data, timestamps, and related sync payloads may be sent to Supabase or similar backend services so the app can create, join, pull, merge, and push team records.
4. Technical information
Hosting providers, browsers, Supabase, and other infrastructure may process technical information such as IP-derived connection data, request metadata, device/browser information, error logs, and security or diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the app.
5. Exports and sharing
If you export or share files from the app, those files may contain the field data you entered. You are responsible for deciding where exported files are stored, sent, or published.
6. Third-party links and services
The app may link to third-party services such as Buy Me a Coffee or use service providers such as Supabase and hosting platforms. Those third parties may process information according to their own privacy policies when you interact with them.
7. How information is used
Information is used to operate the app, restore local state, support exports, enable optional team sync, resolve sync conflicts, troubleshoot issues, maintain security, and improve reliability.
8. Retention and deletion
Local data remains in your browser until changed by the app, exported, overwritten, or cleared by you or your browser. Synced data may remain in backend records until removed according to the app’s sync behavior or backend retention practices.
9. Your choices
You can choose whether to use team sync, export data, clear local browser data, leave a team, or delete transects through the app’s available controls. Clearing browser storage may remove local working data.
10. Security
Reasonable safeguards may be used to protect synced data and app infrastructure, but no online or local-storage system can guarantee perfect security. Use appropriate caution with project-sensitive or confidential field data.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the support or contact method provided with the app.
