These Terms govern your use of PitProfile Visualizer. By using the app, you agree to use it responsibly and to keep your own field records, exports, and backups as needed.
1. The service
PitProfile Visualizer is a field-oriented stratigraphic visualization and recording aid. It helps users enter, compare, save, export, and optionally sync shovel test pit, transect, horizon, Munsell, texture, depth, artifact, and related field-observation data.
2. Field records and professional judgment
The app is a recording and visualization tool, not a substitute for professional judgment, official project forms, agency requirements, lab analysis, or supervisory review. You are responsible for verifying field observations, maintaining required records, and following applicable project, safety, legal, and reporting standards.
3. Ownership of the app
PitProfile Visualizer, including its name, branding, software, source code, interface design, visual assets, workflows, documentation, and related materials, is owned by its creator or licensors and is protected by intellectual property and other laws. These Terms grant you only a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app as provided.
You may not copy, redistribute, resell, repackage, publicly host, modify, reverse engineer, create derivative products from, remove ownership notices from, or use the PitProfile name, branding, code, design, or materials in a confusing or competing way without written permission.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the data you enter. You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, confidentiality, and backup of your project, team, transect, STP, horizon, annotation, artifact, export, and sync data.
5. Local storage, exports, and sync
The app may save data in your browser local storage and may allow file exports. Optional team sync may use Supabase or similar infrastructure. Local browser data can be cleared by browser actions, device changes, or user actions. Team sync and cloud services may be unavailable, delayed, or subject to provider limits.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app or any connected services. Prohibited activity includes unauthorized access, abuse of sync infrastructure, uploading or entering unlawful content, interfering with other teams, attempting to bypass limits, or using the app in a way that harms users, services, or providers.
7. Third-party services
The app may link to or rely on third-party services such as hosting, Supabase, browser storage, or Buy Me a Coffee. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
8. Service changes and availability
Features, storage behavior, sync behavior, links, limits, and design may change over time. The app is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, or error-free operation.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, PitProfile Visualizer disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, and error-free results. PitProfile Visualizer is not liable for lost data, field-record errors, sync conflicts, provider failure, project delays, or indirect or consequential damages beyond amounts required by applicable law.
